Makaziwe Mandela is the non-executive chairman of Nozala Investments (Pty) Ltd, a broad-based women's investment company, whose main goal is to ensure economic advancement for women promoting constructive business partnerships with leading business entities, labour unions, and leaders in commerce and industry. She is also serving as the executive director of Nagul Investment Holdings (Pty) Ltd and works as a consultant in training development and life skills at Self Empowerment International. Before that she worked as executive manager for corporate services at the Development Bank of Southern Africa and as general manager of human resources for Spoornet. Dr. Mandela has worked for a number of academic institutions in South Africa and abroad and sits on various boards, including the Nelson Mandela Foundation, Nestle South and East Africa, Rand Water Services, Enviroserve, and Myriad medical. She holds a B.A. in social work and an M.A. in sociology, and earned a Ph.D. in anthropology from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, USA.
