Georges ASSAF is a principal of Assaf Law Offices, a family law practice in Paris. He has extensive experience as a consultant in international law and institutional development through his work with the United Nations Development Program and the European Commission. Dr. Assaf organized the Francophone Network of Institutes and Centers for Human Rights, Democracy and Peace, and acted as the Centers’ president. He is a member of the International Bar Association, London; “Union Internationale des Avocats”, Paris, France; and the Beirut Bar Association, with a history of leadership in Bar activities. Prior to his appointment as senior adviser on Human Rights and International Relations to the President of the Beirut Bar Association, he served as personal adviser to the Minister of Justice of Lebanon. He is also director of the Public Interest Advocacy Center, Beirut. He lectures on human rights and humanitarian law at the Université Saint Joseph and the University of Balamand, Beirut, and has published extensively in the field of law. Dr. Assaf earned a Ph.D. in international comparative law from the University of Paris, France.
