Paul Chambers is a lecturer and special advisor on international affairs at the Center of ASEAN Community Studies (CACS), Naresuan University, Thailand. He joined CACS in 2017 where he has been a teacher, researcher and writer. Paul is interested in peace studies, human security, security sector reform, and border politics. Paul has participated in numerous projects over the years centering upon issues of democracy, human rights and peace. One of his major areas of interest is Thailand's deep south. He would like to do more research regarding issues involving the people of this region in terms of how the regional violence has affected people of different religions, women and the very young and very elderly. Paul originally came to Thailand in 1993 as a United States Peace Corps Volunteer. He has two M.A.s from Ohio University and a Ph.D. from Northern Illinois University, USA.
