Serhiy Ponomaryov

Head of the Non-Discrimination Division, Secretariat of the Ukrainian Ombudsperson, Ukraine

Serhiy Ponomaryov is a deputy head of the Department for Observance of Children Rights, Non-Discrimination and Gender Equality and head of the Non-Discrimination Division in the Secretariat of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights. Prior to joining the Commissioner’s Secretariat in 2012 he worked as a lecturer in public administration at Petro Mohyla Black Sea State University’s Institute of Public Administration and chaired the Coalition for Combating Discrimination, an association of human rights public organizations. His academic interests include discrimination law and politics, gender and LGBT politics, and political participation of marginalized groups. Mr. Ponomaryov holds a B.A. and an M.A. in political science from Petro Mohyla Black Sea State University (Ukraine) and an M.A. in public administration from Iowa State University, USA.
