Amanda Martinez

Assistant Professor, Davidson College, USA

Amanda R. Martinez is an assistant professor of communication studies, sociology, and education at Davidson College, North Carolina. She has taught a variety of courses including Intercultural Communication, Media Effects, Gendered Communication in Society, Nonverbal Communication, Rhetorical Criticism, Public Speaking, and Argumentation and Debate. Dr. Martinez’ current research agenda deals with entertainment media effects on diverse audiences and stigmatized mental health issues among Latinos in the US. She is also working on an edited collection of essays on transitional era gender issues. Dr. Martinez earned a B.A. in multinational organizational studies at St. Mary’s University with a concentration in Spanish, an M.A. in mass communication and women’s studies certificate from the University of Houston, and a Ph.D. in mass communication and health communication from Texas A&M University.
