Sudesh Reddy

Communication Specialist, United Nations Childrens Fund, South Africa

Sudeshan Reddy is a communication specialist at the United Nations Childrens Fund South Africa Office, and has worked in advocacy and communication for various UN agencies for 20 years, primarily in South Africa but also in Angola, Zambia, Lesotho, Eritrea and Indonesia. Sudeshan has both led and participated in a range of campaigns, events and initiatives focusing on homophobia, xenophobia and racism, including the launch of the UN Free and Equal LGBTI campaign. He strives to advance anti-homophobia and anti-transphobia programs in South Africa, focusing particularly on building partnerships and through campaigns and advocacy initiatives targeted at school learners. He is currently working with faith-based leaders in South Africa on issues of children's rights and child protection. Sudeshan holds a postgraduate honors degree in African politics from the University of the Witwatersrand (where he headed the LGBT student organization) and a postgraduate diploma in mass communications from the University of Leicester. Sudeshan is a returning Fellow of the Salzburg Global LGBT Forum.
