Pallavi Aiyar

Deputy Editor-in-Chief, The Globalist, Spain

An award winning journalist, Pallavi is the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of The Globalist. She has worked as a foreign correspondent for over two decades, reporting from India, China, Europe, Indonesia and Japan. She is a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum. Pallavi is the author of several books including the China-memoir, Smoke and Mirrors, the novels, Chinese Whiskers and Jakarta Tails, and an exploration of contemporary Europe's challenges, New Old World. Her latest book Orienting, is an exploration of Japanese culture and will be published in July 2021. Pallavi was a Reuters Fellow at Oxford University and is the youngest winner of the Prem Bhatia memorial prize for political reporting for her dispatches from China. Pallavi has first class degrees from Delhi University (St Stephens College), Oxford University, the London School of Economics and the University of Southern California. She has a 2016 executive education certificate in Public Leadership from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government. Pallavi is currently based in Madrid.
