Michael is scientific director of the Swiss Research Institute for Public Health and Addiction, psychotherapist and addiction researcher with a strong clinical and public health background. He is interested in exploring innovative ideas, novel approaches, and new ways of thinking to tackle addiction and mental health problems. One of his main focus is on internet and mobile device interventions for the prevention of substance use and treatment of substance use disorders as well as of frequent co-occuring mental health problems. He is scientific expert in addiction research for the World Health Organization (WHO) and at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). He received his Ph.D. and Associate Professor from the University of Zurich.
