Anamaria vRABIe is an urban analyst and associate at the start-up venture MKBT (MakeBetter), a company focused on developing better instruments for enhancing local potential. She is also a co-founder of the Bucharest based NGO Odaia Creativa (The Creative Room), where she works on urban game design projects, user-generated data platforms and community-led regional development. Trained as an economist, Ms. Vrabie quickly realized that something out of the ordinary happens when urban design, economic principles and local wisdom are intermixed into practice. Shehas over eight years of international experience on local development and youth engagement, and has worked in various countries including Brazil, France, Germany, India, Romania and the United States. In other positions, she has worked on technical assistance projects for local authorities in Romania and alsofor international organizations including AEGEE, UN-Habitat and World Bank Romania. Additionally, she teaches urban economics and territorial development as an associate teaching assistant at "Ion Mincu" University of Architecture and Urbanism in Bucharest. Ms. Vrabie holds a B.A. from the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest and an M.A. in international affairs focusing on cities and urbanization from the New School of New York, as a Fulbright scholar. She is a Fellow of Salzburg Global Session SSASA 11, Sustainability and the City: America and the Urban World, 2013.
