Maureen was the former executive director of education at Glasgow City Council and was responsible for the delivery of education to all children and young people in Glasgow aged 18 and under. Glasgow City Council have around 80,000 children in their schools and nurseries and around 13,000 staff. Glasgow has the highest levels of deprivation in Scotland and many of its families face significant barriers to their wellbeing which impacts on children's learning. Within this context, the schools have been very successful raising attainment and improving outcomes.
