Naw Anthea is a gender adviser at Saferworld Myanmar. She joined the team in November 2020. In recent years, Naw has worked as a consultant, trainer, and community mobilizer on issues of gender, gender-based violence, peacebuilding, and trauma healing. In her former role, Naw was the diversity and inclusion focal point, assisting organizations in other Asian cluster countries to mainstream gender equality and diversity principles. Naw's early work and activism centred on faith-based mobilization. Through her grassroots engagement, she observed that collective action could not happen effectively without real conditions for peace. This stimulated her interest in peace. As a practitioner, she is interested in learning best practices from global communities and designing tools and materials that are contextually relevant and meaningful for the communities with whom she works. She holds three master's degrees from universities in Costa Rica, Manila, and Yangon in gender and peacebuilding, global politics, and Christian Studies, respectively.
