Tracey Meares

Walton Hale Hamilton Professor, Yale Law School, USA

Tracey Meares is the Walton Hale Hamilton professor and a founding director of the Justice Collaboratory at Yale Law School. Before joining Yale, she was a professor at the University of Chicago Law School from 1995 to 2007. She was the first African American woman granted tenure at both law schools. Tracey is a nationally recognized expert on community safety efforts, especially in urban communities, and she has worked to transform policy at the local, state, and national levels, including being a member of President Barack Obama's Task Force on 21st-Century Policing. In 2019, Tracey was elected a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Tracey is a Fellow of Salzburg Global Seminar.
