Firdous is an educational arts innovator, artist and writer with 10 years of experience working in the NGO sector. She is the senior programmes manager at Lalela, focused on providing educational arts for at-risk youth to spark creative thinking and develop an entrepreneurial spirit. Her projects include developing collaborative arts based curriculum that addresses social cohesion, gender equality and equal education for programs across Africa. She has also developed and facilitated a female empowerment program that has now reached 4 different communities in South Africa that develops strength resilience, independence and ambition in young girls. Firdous has exhibited at the Fugard Theatre in collaboration with musician Amy Larter and Greatmore Studios in collaboration with poet Toni Stuart in Cape Town, South Africa. In 2019 she was selected to participate in the International Writing Programme (IWP) Women's Creative Mentorship Project run by the University of Iowa courtesy of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. Firdous has also been published in Odd Magazine. She holds a bachelor of arts in fine art from the Michaelis School of Fine Art, University of Cape Town.
