Rose de Wend Fenton is a freelance arts producer and advisor. She co-founded the London International Festival of Theatre (LIFT) in 1980 and was its co-director for 25 years. Between 2011 and 2016, Rose was the director of Free Word, an international literature house exploring the power and politics of words, where she set up a program Living Dangerously: Stories of Climate Change. Rose was also co-author of the Arts, Culture and Creativity Strategy for the Olympic Park in London. Prior to that, Rose worked on projects worldwide including with Tipping Point, an organization connecting and commissioning artists and scientist to energize the create response to climate change; with the European Festivals Association (EFA) as a founding member of the Atelier for Young Festival Managers; and on Festivals in Transition (FIT), an initiative that explored the evolving role of international festivals. Rose is a member of Culture Declares Emergency, a growing community of arts and culture champions declaring a climate and ecological emergency who have joined forces to imagine new possibilities and to propose systemic change. She has an OBE for her services to theatre, and honorary doctorates from the Universities of Warwick, de Montfort and Dartington College of Arts, UK.
