Monica Sassatelli is a cultural sociologist, currently associate professor at the University of Bologna, Department of the Arts, and senior lecturer at Goldsmiths, University of London, Department of Sociology. Her research and teaching concentrate on cultural events and institutions, cultural policies and creative industries. Among her publications are the monograph "Becoming Europeans, Cultural Identity and Cultural Policies" (Palgrave 2009) and the edited collection "Arts Festivals and the Cultural Public Sphere", (Routledge, 2011 co-edited with G. Delanty and L. Giorgi). Recent publications include, on Europe '"Europe's cosmopolitan identity. Images of unity in diversity in the Euro" (In Images of Europe, ed. Mangiapane and Migliore, 2021) ; on biennials 'Symbolic Production in the Art Biennial: Making Worlds' (Theory, Culture and Society 34(4) 89-113, 2017); and on comics in social research, 'Show and Tell' (Sociologica,15 (1): 311-19, 2021).
