Andrea Caruso Saturnino is the executive director for Brasil Cena Aberta in São Paulo, Brazil. The organization, created in 2019, incorporates multiple platforms including Brazilian showcases and a continuous program to develop international co-productions, artistic exchanges, and residencies. Andrea is also the co-founder and director of Performas, since 2009, an artistic production company working with the expanded idea of production in the contemporary world. She is interested in discovering and exploring innovative ideas, novel approaches and new ways of collaborating. Her focus revolves around transversal projects, collective work sustainability and activism on social and artistic fields. She has been practicing this focus in various contexts within social and arts movements as well as curating multidisciplinary projects. She develops research on post-colonial subjectivities in the field of performing arts and new technologies in theatre. Andrea received a bachelor's degree from Federal University of Minas Gerais, in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, a master's degree from Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris and a Ph.D. in performing arts from the University of São Paulo.
