Selyna Peiris

Director of Business Development, Selyn, Sri Lanka

Selyna Peiris is the director of business development at Selyn, Sri Lanka's only fair-trade guaranteed handloom company and one of the country's largest social enterprises. She was previously the deputy director of programs at the Office for National Unity and Reconciliation within the Presidential Secretariat, Government of Sri Lanka. She has also consulted at the United Nations Industrial Development Organization and continues to consult on social business and livelihood development for government, non-governmental, and international organizations. As a youth activist, she was the leader of the youth wing of the Liberal Party of Sri Lanka and the founding Chair of the Youth Council of the Council for Asian Liberals and Democrats. She also served in the executive committee of the International Federation of Liberal Youth. She headed the programs team of Sri Lanka Unites, a youth movement for reconciliation, and was also a driving force behind the informal group Rally for Unity, working towards a racism-free Sri Lanka. She holds a bachelor's degree in law from the University of Hull, UK, a master's degree in law from University College London, a master's degree in advanced international studies from the University of Vienna, Austria, and an attorney-at-law qualification from the Sri Lanka Law College.
