Aung Naing Oo "ANO" is the executive director of the Technical Secretariat Center of the Joint Ceasefire Monitoring Committee ( JMC) in Myanmar. The JMC is one of the two main mechanisms of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement signed on October 15, 2015. Previously, he was a negotiator and the main facilitator on the side of the government in all negotiations with ethnic armed organizations in Myanmar from 2013 to March 2016. At the same time, he was also the director of the Political Dialogue Program at Myanmar Peace Center, founded by President U Thein Sein to spearhead the peace process in Myanmar. He has published two books (in Myanmar and English) on the peace process in Myanmar, Insider's Account of the Myanmar Peace Process and Lessons Learned from Myanmar's Peace Process. He has been trained on disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration; security sector reform; and ceasefire mediation issues by the United Nations, the US Institute for Peace, Folke Barnadotte Academy, and Barcelona Peace Resource Center. Aung Naing holds a master's degree in public administration from Harvard University, focusing on civil war, negotiation, and communication.
