Kate Ramil is a professor of gender and literature at De La Salle University, Manila, Philippines. She is the current NGO coordinator and research lead for Global Gender and Cultures of Equality, a research project funded by the UK Research Council. She also consults with SPARK Philippines, a premier women's NGO in the Philippines, where she heads the Period Empowerment Network project. She recently co-founded YMCA Rinali of Laguna, an NGO that focuses on gender and the environment based in Rizal, Laguna. She also founded the Campus Erasmus Mundus, which aims to internationalize and improve the quality of higher education in developing countries through international exchanges and capacity building. Kate earned her bachelor's degree in literature from De La Salle University, Manila, and a master's degree in women's and gender studies from the University of Hull, UK, and the Universidad de Granada, Spain.
