Nicholas Chapman

Nick Chapman is an environmental scientist by training and has focused in recent years on a combination of local government place management practice and urban sustainability research and teaching at the University of Technology Sydney and University of New South Wales. He is currently GreenWay Place manager at the Inner West Council and prior to that was Macquarie Park Place manager at the City of Ryde for 5 years. Nick is passionate about implementing affordable, practical approaches to enhance community connections, sustainable living and design quality in urban environments. After graduating from Bradford University, Nick spent 7 years working in professional theatre in the UK before migrating to Australia in 1989. Since then he has worked in a range of public and private sector roles in NSW and South Australia. Married with three children and living in Sydney, he is motivated by the need to "think global, act local" and "don't get angry, get involved."
