Ian Lai is a music educator and entrepreneur born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya. Upon finishing his high school education, he became an actor and learnt of the challenges which affect the arts sector in Kenya, this lead him to found Jowi Group which aims to help tackle these challenges. He believes in education as the foundation of any serious artist. He also uses art to raise awareness of social injustices like domestic violence, a cause which he walked 357km to raise awareness of. Since 2013, he has worked and partnered with different organizations, hotels, and artists to host and plan cultural events that have a message of unity behind them. He believes that by leveraging the resources of individuals he is able to bring everyone to the table and help them understand why they are key to each other's success.
