Len Apcar

Len Apcar, after a career at The New York Times in senior editing positions, was named in 2015 to the Switzer Endowed Chair at Louisiana State University's Manship School of Mass Communication teaching writing, reporting, media management, political communication and a special class on fake news. For nearly 40 years, Len was as a reporter and editor first for The Wall Street Journal, and later for The Times. As editor of nytimes.com, he led the nation's largest newspaper website for four years (2002-2006) when it won virtually every major online news award. As deputy managing editor for Asia of the international edition of The Times, worked on the integration of print and digital newsrooms for a global, 24-hour U.S.-Asia-Europe operation. A native of San Francisco, he has B.A. with honors from Claremont McKenna College and an M.S. from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism.
