Joanna Ostrowska

Joanna Ostrowska gives lectures on gender studies and Jewish studies at the University of Warsaw, Jagiellonian University, Polish Academy of Sciences, and Adam Mickiewicz University in Pozna?. Joanna is currently doing research on sexual violence in Poland during World War II and forgotten victims of the Holocaust, with a particular focus on homosexual victims. She is also a student at the Department of Hebrew Studies at the University of Warsaw and works as a film critic. She was an editor of the polish edition of Heinz Heger's "Die Maenner mit dem Rosa Winkel (2016)" and Lutz van Dijk's "Verdammt starke Liebe (2017)." She has been a Ph.D. candidate at the Department of Jewish Studies at Jagiellonian University and received a Ph.D. in history with the thesis "Sexuality in times of oppression and the poetics of its representation." She holds a Master's degree from the Institute of Audiovisual Arts at Jagiellonian University and a Degree from the University of Warsaw. She also studied film and television production at the Film and Theatre School (PWSFTviT) in Lodz.
