Annie Singhal

Community Worker, Support Group Facilitator & Online and Digital Facilitator, Sangini (India) Trust, India

Annie Singhal is a community worker, support group facilitator as well as online and digital facilitator (maintaining Sangini's online presence as well as taking care of cyber security issues), at Sangini (India) Trust. She is also the project associate, publications and communications at a feminist resource group in Delhi. She has been volunteering with Sangini (India) Trust since 2011 where she has represented it at various festivals and conferences around India including Kolkata Pride Walk, Delhi Queer Pride, Pinjra Tod, MINGLE, Indian LGBT Youth Leadership Summit among others. Annie is also the co-author of an 'Emergency Booklet' published by Sangini on emergency support. She believes in the fluidity of gender and sexuality, and strongly feels that a space, such as Sangini, is of utmost importance in the current socio-political times in India, as they create and provide an accessible and expressive space for LBT individuals to empower them to speak up, take charge of their lives, ensure their visibility if required, or just provide them a venting out space. In addition, Annie is also a part of several other LGBTIQ groups and organizations in her city that are involved in activism, support, and visibility. Annie is trained in basic counseling (Basic Counseling Skills Workshop, 2015, Sanjivini Society for Mental Health Delhi and 2013, Sangini) which helps her to listen and talk to people in need effectively. She sees counseling as a tool to enable people to constructively express themselves.
