Danny Ramadan

Author, Storyteller and LGBTQ-Refugees Activist, Syria/Canada

Danny Ramadan is an author and an LGBTQ refugee advocate and activist born in Syria. Being a gay refugee, he moved to Vancouver, Canada in September 2014. Danny works as a volunteer specialist at The Greater Vancouver Food Bank. He also facilitates private sponsorships for LGBTQ-identified refugees to come to Canada. Danny is a public speaker and a storyteller, with notable keynote speeches at the Liberal Party of Canada Convention 2016, and TEDxSFU 2016. Danny was selected as the Local Hero Grand Marshal for the Vancouver Gay Pride Parade in 2016, for his efforts in supporting LGBTQ refugees and helping Vancouver convert itself into a sanctuary for Syrian refugees. His novel "The Clothesline Swing" was released by Harbour Publishing House in April 2017 across Canada and the US. He is a Fellow of Session 570, Salzburg Global LGBT Forum: The Many Faces of LGBT Inclusion.
