Vasilika Laci

Program Officer, Civil Rights Defenders, Albania

Vasilika Laci is a human rights activist and feminist in Albania, currently working as program officer at Civil Rights Defenders. She is active in fighting for respect of human rights and has expertise in regional dimensions of human rights, including civil and political rights, war crimes, genocide, and memories and remembrance. Ms. Laci is active in the fields of child rights, social protection, social inclusion, and influencing policy-making. She volunteers for the LGBT movement in Albania, engages in an informal feminist group, exploring ways to nourish the intellectual debate on gender equality, and has lead several public activities concerning the struggle for Roma rights in the areas of education, housing, and justice. More recently, she has been engaged in using art to promote issues of marginalization. Ms. Laci holds a degree in philosophy and sociology from the University of Tirana, and has a specialization in human rights and democracy in South East Europe from the University of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the University of Bologna, Italy.
