Mariano Ruiz

Latin America and Caribbean Outreach and Communications Officer, IDAHO Committee, Arentina

Mariano Ruiz is the Latin America and Caribbean outreach and communications officer and board member of the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia Committee (IDAHO Committee) in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he works to mainstream the momentum for action from May 17th in the region to secure equal rights and freedom of expression for all LGBT people. In his role, Mariano advises, guides, and supports activists with their campaigns and projects for IDAHOTB. In addition, Mariano works for the international relations department at the Argentinean Federation for Lesbian, Gays, Bisexuals and Transsexuals (FALGBT), one of the most influential LGBT organizations in his country. He was also one of the coordinator professors at the first higher diploma in sexual diversity and human rights from the FALGBT, the IDAHO Committee and the Latin America Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO) recently launched for LGBT activists in the region of Latin America and the Caribbean. Mariano was granted a scholarship for the International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP) by the US State Department since September 2018 he is part of the one-year training Rainbow Academy program from the Swedish Federation for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Rights (RSFL). Mariano is a Fellow of Salzburg Global Seminar.
