Benjamin Cantu

Film Director, Writer, Germany & Hungary

Benjamin Cantu is a film director and writer, currently artist-in-residence in Tel Aviv on invitation of Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and the Israel Filmfund. Harvest (original title “Stadt Land Fluss”, 2011) marked his debut as a feature film writer/director. The film was premiered on the 61st Berlinale and screened in over 30 film festivals with an ensuing worldwide distribution. For his upcoming feature The Convert, he participated in the Torino Film Lab’s script & pitch program. Mr. Cantu initially started storytelling with a pencil, which made him pursue a B.A. degree in animation studies at the Film and Television University Konrad Wolf (HFF) in Babelsberg, Germany. He attended a masterclass with Allan Starsky at the European Film Academy and at Atelier Ludwigsburg-Paris and holds a diploma in film directing from the German Film- and Television Academy.
