Marie-Louise is program director at the Institute for Historical Justice and Reconciliation (IHJR) in The Hague. She currently directs the Project on Contested History in Public Spaces, a multi-year initiative focused on controversies over statues, monuments, street names and other physical manifestations of historical legacies from around the world. The aim is to develop principles, processes, and case studies that can provide decision-makers facing similar controversies with guidelines for responding in a responsible and effective manner. She previously worked at Salzburg Global Seminar where she served as director of the Holocaust Education and Genocide Prevention Program, as well as administrative director of the IHJR, which was founded as a project of Salzburg Global. She has run projects in former and current conflict regions, including the Balkans, Turkey Armenia and the Middle East. Marie-Louise received a master's degree from the University of Michigan.
