Dr. Kate Reese is an independent scholar and expert on global sustainability, mobility, and the cultural dimensions of technology. She holds a PhD from the School of International Service, American University, where as a faculty member she taught courses on world politics and sustainability. She has published articles in Mobilities and Global Environmental Politics on the changing role of the automobile in modern life, and she has a chapter in Making Things International on the international diffusion of the traffic light. Dr. Reese served as managing editor of the Journal of International Relations and Development for several years. Most recently, she and her husband formed a consulting company; since then her work has ranged from developing online sustainability courses to writing about the conflict in Yemen.
