Matthew Weinert

Matthew Weinert is director of Graduate Studies and associate professor of global governance, international law, and international organizations in the University of Delaware’s Department of Political Science and International Relations. His research focuses on moral and legal change in global politics, and he is particularly interested in the human dimension of global politics. He is the author of Democratic Sovereignty: Authority, State, and Legitimacy in a Globalizing World (University College London, 2007), and Making Human: World Order and the Global Governance of Human Dignity (University of Michigan Press, forthcoming), as well as several articles and book chapters on human security, sovereignty, human rights and international ethics. He earned a B.A. in international relations from Boston University, an M.A. in international relations and international law from The American University, and a Ph.D. in international studies from the University of Denver’s Josef Korbel School of International Studies.
