Ana Chacón

Ana Helena Chacón has been an activist in Human Rights for more than 25 years. She served as vice minister of security in Costa Rica, where she was concerned with the prevention of social violence, especially violence against women, and all vulnerable groups. Ms. Chacón was also a congresswoman. During her four years as a parliamentarian, she coordinated the millennium objectives, especially with concern to sexual health and reproductive health. She also fought for civil rights for same sex couples, for a state with no official religion by constitution and human development issues that will help to fight poverty. Ms. Chacón is currently a member of the United Nation Global Commission and is involved in the report on HIV and the law, risks, rights and health.
