Lesego Tlhwale is a writer for Inkanyiso.org, a blog that publishes personal stories, poems and creative writing of LGBTI individuals in South Africa. Inkanyiso is an organization that uses artistic and visual activism to advocate and promote LGBTI human rights. Prior to joining Inkanyiso in 2012, Ms. Tlhwale worked as a link project coordinator and journalist for “Behind The Mask,” an online news magazine that covers LGBTI stories across the African continent and internationally. In this role, Ms. Tlhwale built strong relationships with LGBTI individuals and organizations in Africa, as well as reporting on issues of human right violations in African countries that criminalize homosexuality. Ms. Tlhwale holds a national diploma in media studies and journalism and currently is studying towards a B.A. in communication science at the University of South Africa.
