Mariana Aymerich

Director, Cervantino Festival, Guanajuato, Mexico

Mariana Aymerich is the director of the International Cervantino Festival and Cultural Circuits. In this role, she is focusing on maintaining the festival´s quality and diversity, taking into consideration the broad mosaic of Mexico's artistic communities and those of Mexico's indigenous peoples, as well as international artistic companies. Mariana will also be focusing on expanding and diversifying the festival's audiences by strengthening the festival´s bond with local communities. Mariana has been previously a producer and cultural manager for 19 years. She has participated in international collaborations with artistic companies and governments from Spain, USA, China, and Costa Rica. She has also worked at national festivals in the Mexican states of Puebla, Guanajuato, Veracruz, San Luis Potosí, and Jalisco. Mariana served as the director of special projects of the National Program of Cultural Activities/Mexican Ministry of Culture from 2013 to 2017. This program was created to reaffirm the essential role of cultural and artistic expressions in civic society to reclaim public spaces for cultural manifestations in order to decrease violence and alienation. She has worked for many years at the International Cervantino Festival under the leadership of Ramiro Osorio (2001); Irma Caire (2006-2009); and Marcela Diez (2017-2018).
