Soila Kenya

Soila Kenya is a communications intern at Salzburg Global Seminar in Salzburg, Austria. She writes features for Salzburg Global's online and print publications and helps manage the organization's social media. Before joining Salzburg Global, she worked with an NGO that introduced her to the world of data journalism and fact-checking. As a data journalist, she covers stories involving the environment, gender and science. She won the 2018 African Climate Change and Environmental Reporting award in the print category and was nominated for the "Best Fact-Check" in 2018 by AfricaCheck. In 2019, she received a grant from the International Fact-Checking Network to research the impact of fact-checking at FullFact, a London-based fact-checking charity. Soila obtained a B.A. in communication at Daystar University in Nairobi, Kenya. This is where she started her journalism career by being an editor for the school publication Involvement Newspaper and co-founding another online publication called Daystar Oracle.
