Carla Zahra is a communications intern at Salzburg Global Seminar in Salzburg, Austria. She writes features for Salzburg Global's online and print publications and helps manage the organization's social media. Before joining Salzburg Global, Carla gained professional experience as a writer within different marketing and PR companies in Malta, focusing on features about history, arts, and culture, as well as business and sustainability projects. At university, she was part of the editorial team for a student magazine and worked on articles about social issues and culture for different newspapers and magazines in Malta, as well as an online blog. In 2019, she received her bachelor's degree in communication studies and English from the University of Malta, where she completed her honors thesis focusing on reactions to news about gender issues. She also attended the Future News Worldwide 2019 conference as a student journalist and volunteered in Erasmus + projects abroad.
