Airan Berg is currently the artistic director of the Festival der Regionen in Upper Austria and the artistic director of the Creative Europe Participatory project Orfeo and Majnun in 7 European cities. He was the artistic director of StadtRecherchen, the large scale participatory project of the Burgtheater Wien (Austria's National Theatre). Other highlights include artistic director for performing arts for the European Capital of Culture Linz09 and the artistic coordination of Lecce's application to become European Capital of Culture for 2019. While maintaining high artistic qualities, his projects also implement large scale participatory processes based on capacity building, empowerment, and inclusion. He received a bachelor's degree in theater arts from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.
