Martin Silva Rey

Features Intern

Martín Silva Rey is the Features Intern at Salzburg Global Seminar in Salzburg, Austria. As a member of the Communications Team, he writes features for Salzburg Global’s online and print publications and conducts interviews with participants during programs. Before joining Salzburg Global in April 2019, he did an academic year in Brussels, where he co-authored an article on social housing for Belgian newspaper Le Soir. In 2018, he was responsible for live-tweeting the Global Editors Network (GEN) summit in Lisbon, Portugal. He also worked as a producer at Uruguayan television network Nuevo Siglo TV. Among his tasks was to interview 80 members of the General Assembly of Uruguay for a reportage called Parliamentary Radiography. Passionate about storytelling, Martín is committed to combining different research techniques in his features, ranging from data journalism to life-history. He is a Future News Worldwide alumnus and holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism. He is currently working towards a bachelor’s degree in political science at the Uruguayan Republic’s University and was granted a full scholarship to study Arabic in Cairo, Egypt between 2019 and 2020.
