Claudia Kozman (Ph.D., Indiana University) is an assistant professor in residence in journalism at Northwestern University in Qatar. She conducts comparative research on news content with a particular focus on political communication and sports in the Middle East and North Africa. Specifically, she examines the media coverage of conflict and the public's media uses during political turmoil through a media systems approach. Her research on news content from a framing and sourcing perspective also includes a focus on sports in relation to politics. Prior to joining academia, Kozman worked in journalism for 13 years, most of which were in sports, as reporter, editor, producer, and anchor, in print, digital, and broadcast media.
