Razi Jafri is a documentary photographer and filmmaker whose work focuses on religion, politics, immigration, and the changing cultural landscape in America. His current projects include Hamtramck, USA, which is scheduled to premier at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival. His other film is a documentary called Loyalty, which follows three Muslim chaplains as they navigate Islamophobia and religious freedom in the US armed forces. His work has been supported by the Center for Asian American Media (CAAM), the Islamic Scholarship Fund (ISF), the Doris Duke Foundation, the Knight Foundation, and others. Razi served as a mentor in Kartemquin Films Diverse Voices in Docs (DVID) Fellowship. He has been awarded fellowships by Facing Change: Documenting Detroit, the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA), The Salzburg Global Forum, and the Knight Fellowship at the Sundance Film Festival. Razi is an alumnus of the University of Michigan-Dearborn where he received a bachelor's degree in engineering.
