Robert Greenan is the Counselor for Public Affairs at the U.S Embassy to Austria. He arrived in Vienna in August, 2014. Previously, he served as the Cultural Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from 2012 to 2014 and at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq 2010 to 2011. Between 2007 and 2010, Robert was the Deputy Spokesperson at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, Egypt. He has also served as Deputy Director of the State Department Foreign Press Center in New York City, staff assistant to the Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs and as program officer for Fulbright and Freedom Support Act academic exchanges in Europe and the Middle East. Robert was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Vladivostok, Russia from 1995 to 1997. Robert holds a Masters of Public Policy from the Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service at New York University and a Bachelor of Arts in German and International Relations from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He was also a Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Student in Germany from 1985-86.
