Passang Dorji is a physiotherapy assistant and works for the Bhutan Health and Medical Council. He volunteers with various organizations, including the national HIV/AIDs control program at the Ministry of Health, Lhaksam, a network of PLHIV in Bhutan, and since 2014 as a community representative for the research team at the Centre for Research and Educational Development, Paro College of Education. He does advocacy work on behalf of the LGBT+ community and general population on legal, health and social issues, health service outreach and works to empower the closed off LGBT+ community. In the past two years he has attended many workshops organized by Ministry of Health on sexual diversities, HIV/AIDs treatment guidelines, as well as a seminar on sexuality organized by the Paro College of Education. Passang publicly came out in March 2015 in order to create awareness through various national television and radio programs. He is a graduate of Faculty of Nursing and Public Health, affiliated with Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences, Thimphu Bhutan.
