Pia C. Valdivia is the vice president and chief financial officer at Salzburg Global Seminar. Pia has previously directed finance departments in the legal, education, and nonprofit sector and brings more than ten years of strategic financial management and new venture philanthropy experience to Salzburg Global. She primarily focuses on executive leadership, board and stakeholder relationship management, organizational restructuring, financial analysis and new funding sources. Prior to joining Salzburg Global, Pia was chief financial officer at Results for Development Institute, director of finance and administration at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center and Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service. In addition, Pia helped to develop and grow a finance department from inception at the Georgetown University Law Center O'Neill Institute where she also chaired the institute's strategic fundraising committee meetings and negotiated grant renewals with some of its largest foundations. Pia serves and has served on a number of boards and committees such as the Sustainable Business Network of Washington DC, the Senate Staff Affairs Committee at the University of Maryland, and the Clarice Smith Center's leadership team. She is also a committee and junior council member at Children's National Medical Center, and actively volunteers at the Georgetown Alumni Financial Services Club and Georgetown University Career Services Committee. Furthermore, she serves as an advisor for the Forté Foundation, inspiring women business leaders, and as a mentor in the Hoya Gateway program for Georgetown University students. Pia received her Executive M.B.A in leadership at Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business, her M.B.A. in corporate and international finance from the University of Miami, and her B.A.-M.A. in business management and marketing from the University of Innsbruck, Austria. She also received a certificate in forensic accounting from Georgetown University.
