Ranjit Ajit Singh

Former Executive Chairman, Securities Commission, Malaysia

Ranjit Ajit Singh is former vice chairman of the Board of IOSCO, and the longest serving chairman of IOSCO's largest committee, the Growth and Emerging Markets Committee. He was chair of the ASEAN Capital Markets Forum (ACMF) from 2014-2018, a major grouping for ASEAN countries. Ranjit served as executive chairman of the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) from 2012 to 2018 and was the managing director prior to his appointment as Chairman with 25 years of experience in securities regulation and capital market development. He presently sits on several international advisory boards and is an expert advisor for the IMF and World Bank. He is also a Board member of the Institute of Integrity in Malaysia and a member of the Leadership Council of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network Malaysia. Ranjit is trained as a financial economist and accountant. He is a Fellow of CPA Australia. Prior to joining the SC, he taught finance at The University of Melbourne and has worked in academia, accounting, consulting, and regulation in Australia and Malaysia. He holds a Bachelor of Economics degree with Honors, Master's of Economics degree in finance and Doctor of Laws (honoris cause) all from Monash University Australia. Ranjit is a Fellow of Salzburg Global Seminar.
