Elina Kuusio

Development Intern

Elina Kuusio is a Development Intern at Salzburg Global Seminar in Salzburg, Austria. Her primary responsibilities include conducting research into new institutional funding opportunities and enhancing relationships with current partners. Before joining Salzburg Global in January 2019, Elina worked as a research assistant at Bournemouth University, focusing on projects including "Reconciliation-In-Practice in the Western Balkans," and "Freedom of Speech and the Emotional Public Sphere." Elina first came to Salzburg Global in 2015 as a participant of the Salzburg Academy on Media and Global Change. She earned an MSc in security studies from University College London (UCL) and also obtained a B.A. in politics and media from Bournemouth University, UK. As part of her dissertation at UCL, Elina researched narratives of inter-communal violence in Bosnia and Herzegovina. For her dissertation at Bournemouth University, meanwhile, she explored the representation of women's wartime experiences in public in Kosovo.
