Amish Desai

Head of MEMS Research, Tanner Research, Inc., USA

Amish Desai's areas of expertise connect science, technology and entrepreneurship. Amish received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) where his research focused on micromachined devices for airborne particle transportation, fast mixers for protein folding studies, and micro-nozzles for electro-spray ionization mass spectroscopy. Since then, he has authored over a dozen academic publications, co-founded OnChip Technologies (a biotech startup) and secured nine patents in the microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) field. Drawing on almost twenty years of experience in the field, Amish continues to research, design, and supervise product development in the micro and macro domains as head of MEMS research at Tanner Research, Inc. His current projects include developing health monitoring for rocket motor safety systems and microfluidic droplet transport techniques for antifogging eyewear. He continues to connect his research to his interest in 3D design, art, and radio control sailplanes. Most recently, he has delved into developing expertise in technology valuation and the philosophy of the blockchain.
