An insightful new book on social and emotional learning has been donated to Salzburg Global Seminar.

Educar Desde el Bienestar: Competencias Socioemocionales Para El Aula Y La Vida (Educating from the Perspective of Wellbeing: Social and Emotional Competencies for the Classroom and Life) will join the organization’s extensive collection in Schloss Leopoldskron’s Max Reinhardt Library.

The book was co-authored by Salzburg Global Fellow Emiliana Rodriguez and soon-to-be Salzburg Global Fellow Daniela Labra, both from AtentaMente, an NGO based in Mexico.

Rodriguez is a two-time Salzburg Global Fellow, having attended Springboard to Success: How Social and Emotional Learning Helps Students in Getting To, Through and Beyond College; and Social and Emotional Learning: A Global Synthesis.

Labra, meanwhile, is due to attend the next program in Salzburg Global’s Education for Tomorrow’s World multi-year series: Education and Workforce Opportunities for Refugees and Migrants. Her participation in the program is thanks to the generous support of Instituto Mexicano para la Competitividad.

Rodriguez presented the book to Dominic Regester, a program director at Salzburg Global, and Faye Hobson, a program manager at Salzburg Global, during the WISE Summit 2019, which took place in Doha, Qatar, earlier this month.

Regester said, “Social and Emotional Learning has been a key focus of our Education for Tomorrow’s World multi-year series since 2016 and we have been really pleased that AtentaMente have been able to participate in several of the programs and to have had the chance to work with Emiliana and Daniela on a webcast for USAID’s Education in Crisis and Conflict Network and most recently a panel discussion on SEL at the World Innovation Summit on Education in Doha.”

Rodriguez is also part of the steering committee for Karanga: the Global Alliance for Social Emotional Learning and Life Skills, which has grown out of the Education for Tomorrow’s World multi-year series.
