Salzburg Global Seminar and Hotel Schloss Leopoldskron outline measures taken in the face of the ongoing coronavirus outbreak Statement on COVID-19 Preparation and Response

UPDATED Friday, March 20, 2020 to include information on further changes to Salzburg Global Seminar’s programs

Since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, Salzburg Global Seminar and Hotel Schloss Leopoldskron have taken stringent precautionary measures to address concerns about the spread of COVID-19.

Our top priority is to ensure the health, safety and well-being of our employees, our program participants, all guests, and the wider Salzburg community.

We have followed the situation regarding COVID-19 very closely, ensuring full compliance with Austrian requirements and regularly consulting with Austrian authorities and with leading public health experts in the Salzburg Global Fellowship.

Information concerning Salzburg Global programs

After careful consideration and in discussion with our partners, we have made the following adjustments to our 2020 program calendar:

  • The inaugural meeting of the Asia Peace Innovators Forum on Building Peace, Stability and Regional Cooperation in Asia (March 5 to 9) will take place in Salzburg on November 8 to 12 2020.
  • What Future for Festivals? (March 10 to 15) will now be held in Salzburg from October 24 to 28, 2020.
  • The Palliser Lecture (April 21) will be given by Margaret Macmillan in London on October 21, 2020 on the topic of Sound and Fury: History as Compass in an Age of Discontent.
  • The International Dialogue on Climate Emergency and the Future of Food: Transformation for a 1.5ºC World (Salzburg Congress, May 4 to 6) has been transformed into a three-month online collaboration to maximize impact and influence. Details will be available on Salzburg Global’s website and from our partner, the Global Alliance for the Future of Food.

We have begun active online engagement for the above programs, and are committed to build and sustain community with our Fellows and partners during the COVID-19 crisis.

Further program updates will be announced in due course. Our offices in Salzburg and Washington DC are currently closed but our staff are teleworking and remain available via email. Please see our website for contact details: www.salzburgglobal.org/go/staff

We thank participants for their patience, understanding, and hope we are in a position to welcome them to Schloss Leopoldskron for the rearranged programs later in 2020.
