Seminar to celebrate 70th anniversary of Session 1 on July 15
Salzburg Global Seminar is proud to announce details of a new, annual celebration which will showcase the organization's past, present, and future.
On July 15, 2017, the organization will celebrate Salzburg Global Day, 70 years to the day Salzburg Global's first session began.
In the summer of 1947, 97 Fellows from 18 countries journeyed to Salzburg from across Europe to examine, debate, and challenge ideas for the first Salzburg Seminar in American Studies. This “risky experiment” was only the beginning.
Since its establishment, Salzburg Global has welcomed more than 30,000 participants and has gone on to bridge divides and tackle worldwide challenges.
The Salzburg Global Fellowship, which stretches across 170 countries, has enabled leaders from around the world to turn thought into action. In the run up to July 15 - and on the day itself - Fellows are being called upon to take part in a special collaborative initiative to share their positive memories of Salzburg Global.
The Salzburg Global community will commemorate and celebrate the extraordinary work performed by each of its members over the years on social media using the hashtag #ShareWithSGS.
Salzburg Global is looking for cherished photos, entertaining videos, memories of eye-opening discussions, and anecdotes of meetings which have changed people's lives for the better.
From now until July 15, Salzburg Global is attempting to bring everyone together online. To get involved, post a photo, video, or a memory with the hashtag #ShareWithSGS on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. In the days leading up to Salzburg Global Day, photos and facts from seven decades of dynamic history will be shared via Salzburg Global's social media accounts.
