SCIANA - THE HEALTH LEADERS NETWORK

Upcoming Program

Overview

Historically, the European Union has had a narrow health mandate. European health and health care needs have been traditionally handled by EU Member States. However, as exemplified by the COVID-19 pandemic and antimicrobial resistance, siloed, national approaches to complex health issues are often ill-equipped to ensure widespread health and well-being.

The manifesto for a European Health Union (EHU) brings promise of placing health at the heart of its policies and interventions. It does so, at a time when EU health programmes such as the EU4Health experience significant cuts to the budget (75 percent).

The vision behind this endeavor is to advance quality of life by addressing upstream and downstream determinates of health, such as environmental sustainability. It also encompasses a strong political commitment to health security, universal health coverage and global health.

This program is open to Sciana Network Members only.
